Glendale Community College Receives "Celebrate Life 2003" Award
At a July 23 awards ceremony, Glendale Community College received a "Celebrate Life 2003" award from Phoenix Body Positive (PBP) for several years of campus AIDS activism including "AIDS Awareness Week" and "Respect Yourself Week" during which PBP was invited to the GCC campus to provide AIDS testing. Phoenix Body Positive is a community organization created to help people affected by or infected with AIDS. It provides the community with literature, information, resources and testing to help prevent the spread of the disease. At the awards ceremony, GCC and other recipients were recognized for their commitment to and services for persons whose lives are somehow affected by AIDS.
GCC Offers Free Job Search Workshop Sept. 3
Glendale Community College is offering to the community a free job search workshop as part of an extensive public service program. The workshop will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 3, 2003 in the Counseling & Career Services Building, room 108. Attendees will learn important job search techniques, the #1 way to search for a job, what employers are looking for, and how to develop their own personal "job search strategy." For those who cannot attend on this date, the workshop will be repeated at 9:30 a.m. on Wed., Oct. 29, 2003. GCC is located at 6000 West Olive Avenue in Glendale; plenty of convenient parking is available. For more information, visit

Voter Registration Drive to be Held at Glendale Community College
To promote voter participation and as a community service, Glendale Community College is sponsoring a week-long voter registration drive Sept. 8-12, 2003. Tables will be set up in the GCC central campus mall and will be staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The campus is located at 6000 West Olive Avenue in Glendale.
