"STAR TREK" ILLUSTRATOR TO SPEAK AT GCC MARCH 24
If you have been amazed by the spectacular illustrations and graphic designs in the Star Trek movies, you have seen the work of Glendale Community College alumnus John Eaves. Eaves graduated from GCC in 1983 with an AA in General Studies, and is returning to his alma mater to give a fascinating presentation about his work on Monday, March 24, 2003 at noon in the Student Union Lounge on the GCC campus, 6000 W. Olive Avenue, in Glendale. Eaves has worked as a graphic artist, designer, and illustrator on several Star Trek movies. He has also worked in the same capacity for Dreamworks, a production company of Steven Spielberg. In addition to his many movie credits, he has published a book of his art work. This accomplished artist will offer a visual presentation revealing the behind-the-scenes evolution of the images that germinate in his imagination, are born through art and technology, and then soar onto the screen to the delight of fans. It is a fascinating demonstration of the processes by which ideas are turned into drawings and drawings are turned into motion picture images. For information about parking or location, please call GCC Community Relations at 623-845-3477 or 623-845-3808. Those wishing to attend over their lunch hour may bring their lunch. "Trekkies" are particularly encouraged to attend! This program is free and open to the public and is offered as a community service by the college.
