FACULTY CHOSEN TO TRAVEL ABROAD

Four full-time GCC faculty have been selected to study abroad in summer 2003. The chosen faculty members submitted applications and resumes to a selection committee. All study abroad will directly enhance classroom instruction. Charles R. Ezparza, business faculty, and Bel-Quiros Winemiller, foreign language faculty, will travel to Mexico. Bruce Thomas, counseling faculty, will head to China, and Nancy Siefer, English faculty, will travel to Australia. Siefer will study indigenous languages that will help understand the similarity of all languages – a view not found in a traditional study of language. Her Australian colleagues are also anxious for her to warm them up with Arizona yoga classes. Siefer also teaches yoga at GCC. The International Exchange Program provides full-time Maricopa faculty an opportunity to live and wok for four weeks in the People's Republic of China, Mexico, or Australia. Maricopa Community Colleges are committed to international education and seek to create an environment where teaching and learning is augmented by international study and work opportunities for faculty.
