GCC Finalist in Climate Leadership Awards

Glendale Community College has been selected as a finalist in the 2012 Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards. Nominations were invited from American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment signatory institutions. GCC President Irene Kovala signed the document at a campus ceremony Sept. 20.

Second Nature finalists are asked to produce a short video highlighting the innovation outlined in the nomination. Finalists' videos will be entered into a national voting competition March - April 2012. Viewers will vote on the most innovative and groundbreaking institution in each Carnegie Classification. Campuses with the top votes at the end of April will have the chance to be featured in the Planet Forward Spring 2012 PBS TV special. In addition, every finalist who submits a video will be featured in a Planet Forward weekly webisode or newsletter.

All award finalists will be considered for a Climate Leadership Award and award winners will be announced and recognized at the 2012 ACUPCC Climate Leadership Summit, June 21-22 at American University. Info at http://secondnature.org/awards.
