Banner Thunderbird Supports GCC Nursing Program

Francesca M. Bouchard has been awarded a $6,000 scholarship by the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Volunteers. The scholarship will cover her tuition, books and other expenses during the two-year nursing program at Glendale Community College. She is the 19th GCC nursing student to be awarded the scholarship since 1992.

She attends college full-time, maintains a 3.65 GPA, volunteers in the community and works at the Arizona State Hospital. The student is the first in her family to go to college and this was her first time applying for a scholarship.

Bouchard is on track to graduate from GCC in the fall 2012 and continue her goal to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the GCC/NAU transfer partnership. She says that she wants to become a wound care nurse in an emergency room or intensive care unit. In the future, she wants to join Nurses without Borders and travel to third world countries to assist with surgical/wound care.
