Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! Not guilty!
Upcoming auditions for men and women 18 and older provide opportunities for community residents to be considered for parts in Glendale Community College's (GCC's) fall theatrical production of the emotionally charged drama Twelve Angry Jurors.
The three-act play by Sherman L. Sergel is adapted from the 1954 Emmy Award-winning teleplay Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose. The teleplay later was adapted into a 1957 movie starring Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Jack Klugman and others and became one of the most compelling legal dramas of that decade and beyond.
Director and GCC Performing Arts faculty David Seitz explained Twelve Angry Jurors is modified to include women as jurors, providing increased opportunities for more diverse interactions among citizens involved in heated discussions as they decide the fate of a 19-year-old man who has stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father.
Auditions are scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the Performing Arts Center on GCC's main campus, 59th and Olive avenues in Glendale. Call backs for cast members will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the same location. Auditions consist of a cold reading from the script, which is available for perusal at the circulation desk of the GCC Library Media Center.
Cast and crew are required to enroll in the one-credit-hour THP201AA class or the two-credit-hour THP201AB class. Tuition fees apply.
Six performances of Twelve Angry Jurors are scheduled during Nov. 13-15 and 19-21. Times will be announced.
