A panel discussion that explores generational differences in the workplace and their effects on career management will be presented Monday evening, Aug. 10, in Room 104 of the Student Union at Glendale Community College (GCC), 6000 W. Olive Ave., Glendale.

Co-sponsored by GCC and the Southwest Job Network (SJN), the discussion will delve into how baby boomers and Generation X and Generation Y members bring varying perspectives and ideals to the job marketplace, often resulting in contrasting viewpoints and approaches. Success in the business world can depend on how generational differences in values, ambitions, views, mindsets and demographics are managed on the job and during job transition.

The free event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with open networking, followed by the panel discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. Attire is business casual.

Panelists include Brad Taft, an employment consultant, author, public speaker and chief career strategist of the Taft Resource Group, a Phoenix career-transition firm; Chad Graham, who reports on workplace issues for The Arizona Republic; and Amy Notbohm, a human-resources manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, the world's largest private professional-services firm. Serving as moderator will be Jennifer Rue, member of the SJN board of directors.

Because of limited seating capacity, registration is required and can be completed online at http://sjn-wv-panel-discussion-08102009.eventbrite.com. Walk-ins will be seated on a space-available basis only. Registrants are asked to park in Lot S1 immediately west of the campus entrance at 61st and West Olive avenues. Overflow parking will be accommodated in the S2 lot east of that intersection.

Questions can be directed via email to info@southwestjobnet.com or by leaving a voice message at 480.513.1491.
