For Four Campus Choirs

Glendale Community College (GCC) is auditioning singers to participate in any of its four choirs during the upcoming academic year. The fall semester begins Saturday, Aug. 22, for weekend classes and the week of Monday, Aug. 24, for weekday classes.
Brief, simple auditions to determine voice part, range and pitch-matching abilities will be conducted Monday through Friday, Aug. 17-21, in MU-1, office 103, located south of Vogel and 59th avenues on the east on the college's campus. Interested individuals are invited to arrange an audition time by contacting Dr. Kevin Kriegel, director of choral music, at 623.845.3724 or via e-mail at kevin.kriegel@gcmail.maricopa.edu. Auditions also can be arranged in advance of those dates by contacting Dr. Kriegel.
Singers can audition for the following GCC choral groups:
• Mixed Community Chorus – This community ensemble meets from 7:10 to 9:50 p.m. Mondays and performs two concerts per semester.
• A Cappela Choir – This group meets from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Chamber Music Ensemble (Vocal Jazz) – Rehearsals are scheduled from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Chamber Singers – This group rehearses from 12 to 12:50 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Choir membership earns students college credit, and scholarships are available to qualifying individuals to help offset tuition costs. Registration for any of these choral ensembles is required and can be completed online by visiting http://My.maricopa.edu and clicking on "Find a Class," highlighting "Fall 2009" and "Glendale Community College," and entering in the Keywords/Course Number MUP 150 for Mixed Community Chorus, MUP 153 for A Cappella Choir, MUP 181 for Chamber Music Ensemble (Vocal Jazz) or MUP 182 for Chamber Singers.
