Glendale Community College alumnus Brandon Mendoza, 26, is an ordinary guy with an extraordinary job. He now lives in Farmington, Connecticut, and is an Associate Producer of Bottomline at TV sports network giant ESPN–a job he only dreamed about when he lived in Glendale, AZ, and was a student at GCC. Mendoza will speak about "Living a Dream," 11:00-11:50 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, in the GCC Student Union, room SU-104E. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale. This event is free and open to the public.

After attending GCC, Mendoza graduated from ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. Always a sports fanatic, he eventually landed his dream job with ESPN. He will discuss the importance of persistence and the benefit of setting and reaching goals while chasing career dreams.

In addition to the two years Mendoza has been at ESPN, he is a freelance sports writer for Arizona-based magazine, Latino Future, for which he has interviewed athletes such as Luis Gonzalez, martial arts legend Royce Gracie, and MLB Hall-of-Famer Orlando "Baby Bull" Cepeda. Prior to landing his dream job at ESPN, Mendoza worked in the Arizona television market with Great Scott Productions, where, among other duties, he floor-directed the sports talk show, We've Got Your Game.
