GCC Prof Selected for NSF Alternative Energy Summer Research

Professor Ui Luu, a patent-holding professor of electronics and engineering at Glendale Community College (GCC), has been selected for a summer faculty development opportunity through the High Tech Workforce Initiative of the National Science Foundation (NSF). Luu applied to the NSF Externship Program with a proposal to evaluate the skill sets and technology for photovoltaic solar panels and create a detailed curriculum module on solar panels that will eventually be included in an online survey course on alternative energy. The curriculum module would also be made available nationally by means of an NSF-funded online database. Through this project, Luu expects to experience valuable professional growth, expand industry connections for himself and for GCC, and develop further support for curriculum development. During his summer project, he will work with colleagues at the Maricopa Community Colleges district offices. Visit Luu's web site at http://www.technology-systems.com/indexGCC for information on Electronics and Engineering at GCC.
