Earth Day Activities at GCC, April 22

The Green Efforts Committee at Glendale Community College and many volunteers will conduct a massive dumpster dive from 6-10 a.m. on Earth Day, April 22, to collect and analyze a day's worth of GCC trash. It will be held on the GCC central mall. Training, gloves and masks will be given to volunteers. The intent is to find out what GCC throws out each day and how much could be recycled. Student Art Exhibit Opens April 22

The Glendale Community College unveils amazing artwork when the spring Student Art Exhibit opens on Tuesday, April 22, and remains open through Monday, April 28. This juried show will be displayed in the GCC Student Union's Palm Court. Enjoy this opportunity to see the variety of art media and experiences offered through the GCC Art Department and created by art students. The traditional arts are represented, along with innovative programs in computer-generated images in animation, graphics and digital photography. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Avenue in Glendale. The Student Union is on the south side of the campus.

GCC Hosts DNA Day, April 25

DNA Day is a date marked internationally to commemorate the description of the structure of the DNA molecule by Watson and Crick in 1953 and the unveiling of the first draft of the Human Genome 50 years later. To celebrate this date, the Glendale Community College Biotechnology Club will host a Sci-Tech Exploration Fair on Friday, April 25, from noon to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Physical Science Building. The fair will feature several distinguished guest speakers representing the biotech industry. Talented GCC Biotech students will also be showcased and refreshments will be served. The public is invited to this free event on the GCC campus, The Physical Science building is on the Northwest edge of the campus.
