April 11 is Deadline to Apply for Scholarships at GCC
April 11 at 4 p.m. is the deadline to apply for more than $2 million representing 127 separate scholarships and more than 2,500 individual awards at Glendale Community College. There are scholarships for new or returning students, nursing, dance, U.S. veterans, single moms, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender students, disabled students, and those interested in occupations careers such as fire science, law enforcement and many others. Copies of the 2008-2009 GCC Scholarship book are available at the GCC Financial Aid office, 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale. Transfer Awareness Day at GCC, March 27
Attending a community college and transferring to a university will be explained and made easy when Glendale Community College hosts Transfer Awareness Day on Thursday, March 27, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the central mall of the campus at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale. The free event will bring more than 35 Arizona and out-of-state colleges and universities together. Students can meet university representatives, gather information, and learn about transfer options. The college reps will discuss educational opportunities at their institutions, and explain the process for university transfer. Parking is free at GCC. Guitarist Michael Nigro to Give Free Concert at GCC, April 10
Accomplished classical guitarist Michael Nigro will give a free concert at Glendale Community College on Thursday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Building, Room MU-151, 6000 Olive Ave. in Glendale. The program will feature works by both prominent and less known South American composers. The works include folkloric dances and songs and sophisticated works full of colorful impressionism. Nigro has performed all over the U.S. and is the co-founder of the Long Beach Classical Guitar Society. He is a sought-after teacher, and is presently on the faculty at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA, where he is the head of the guitar department. For more information, call 623.845.3720.
