About Dr. Alberto Villoldo
Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. is a medical anthropologist who has spent the last 30 years investigating the healing practices of the shamans of the Amazon and the Andes. He is the founder of the Four Winds Society, an organization dedicated to the bridging of ancient shamanic traditions with modern medicine and psychology; and is the author of over 10 books, including Shaman, Healer, Sage; Mending the Past and Healing the Future with Soul Retrieval; The Four Insights and Yoga, Power and Spirit. His most recent book, Courageous Dreaming is now available in bookstores and has been chosen as a One Spirit selection of the month. The Four Winds Society Healing the Light Body School provides a scientific framework through which it is possible to learn the ancient healing practices that can be "known but not told."
Shamans understand that we have a luminous energy field that surrounds the physical body. This field holds a record of all our emotional, physical, and spiritual traumas; it is the blueprint that determines how we will heal, how we will live and how we might die. The work of a shaman is to bring balance to the luminous energy field.
In this introductory lecture, Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. will discuss the healing practices employed for 10,000 years by the shamans of the Americas. The ancient practices are presented in a scientific and practical system of energy medicine that allows us to discover states of exceptional health and well-being, as well the opportunity for conscious participation in our future evolution. This lecture is an opportunity to learn from one of the foremost teachers of shamanism in North America and gain insight into the ancient healing techniques from the shamans of the Americas.
