Magdalen Hsu-Li to Perform at GCC on Oct. 11
The community is invited to hear speaker, songwriter and singer Magdalen Hsu-Li at Glendale Community College on Thurs., Oct. 11 at noon in the GCC Student Union. A program that combines social consciousness and great music, it is free and open to the public. Hsu-Li performed to a standing-room-only crowd at GCC three years ago. She will speak on the challenges of growing up as an Asian-American, a woman and a bisexual in the US South. Following her presentation, she will perform the energetic, thoughtful, exciting music that enchanted her audience the last time she was at GCC. As she says, "My ultimate goal as an artist is to break through the glass ceiling in the American music industry so that Asian-Americans, women and diverse musical voices become accepted, recognized and heard." GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale.
