Forensics, DNA Profiling, More Featured in GCC Biotech Workshop, March 17
A workshop to immerse teachers, police and others in sophisticated hands-on biotechnology techniques is being offered by biology faculty at Glendale Community College Sat., March 17, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will learn about biotech lab techniques, how to apply biotechnology to solve real-world problems, and how to perform biotech experiments and analyze the results. The workshop is recommended for high school teachers who have little or no experience with molecular biology; college students interested in DNA profiling, forensic science, and statistics; and police or paralegals who want to explore lab activities in forensic science, paternity testing and DNA profiling. The workshop is offered in collaboration with Bio-Rad Inc., of California. The fee is $25; only personal checks are accepted. To inquire or register, contact Dr. Sagarika Dash at

Free GCC Student Union "Grand Re-Opening," March 28
The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting, "Grand Re-Opening" celebration to be held in the remodeled Student Union Building at Glendale Community College (GCC) Wed., Mar. 28, 1:30-3:30 p.m. This project is the first completed major remodel in the Maricopa County Community College District funded by the 2004 capital bond passed overwhelmingly by taxpayers. This free event will celebrate the on-time, on-budget completion of GCC's first major bond construction project. Refreshments will be served. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale; the Student Union is on the south side of campus. Parking is free.
Engineering Careers Featured at Free GCC Event, April 13
Join engineers of all disciplines from Honeywell, Medtronic, SRP and more when you learn how to pursue an engineering career on April 13 at Glendale Community College. An Open House from 3-5 p.m. in the GCC Student Union will feature guest engineers from industry and GCC engineering and physics faculty. GCC students will present their projects, including robots, balsa bridges and more. At 5 p.m., high school students can compete in a paper tower-building competition with prizes. Refreshments will be served and campus tours are available. This event and parking are free and open to all. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale.
