MAT 082 Arithmetic Review
3 credits
  Fundamental operations with whole numbers, common fractions, decimal fractions, percentages, and additional topics.
Prerequisites: None
MAT 090 Developmental Algebra
5 credits
  Standard first course in algebra, for students who haven't had algebra or for those needing a review of first year algebra.
May not receive credit for MAT 090 and MAT092.

Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 082, or MAT 102, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam. This is a slower 5 credit version of MAT092.
MAT 092 Introductory Algebra
3 credits
  Basic axioms, linear equations in one and two variables, operations on polynomials, rational expressions, graphing of linear equations and the solving of linear equations.
May not receive credit for MAT 090 and MAT 092.

Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 082, or MAT 102, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 102 Mathematical Concepts/Applications
3 credits
  Review of arithmetic operations. The study of measurement and approximation, the metric system, topics from geometry, introductory statistics, elementary algebra concepts, and graphs, with emphasis on applications.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 082, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 108 Tutored Mathematics
2 credits
  Structured tutorial assistance and math study skills to help students achieve success in a mathematics course in which they are concurrently enrolled. Mathematics study skills emphasized.
Note: MAT108 may be repeated for a total of ten (10) credits.
Corequisites: MAT082, or MAT090, or MAT091, or MAT092, or MAT120, or MAT121, or MAT122, or MAT140, or MAT141, or MAT142, or MAT150, or MAT151, or MAT152, or permission of Department Chair.
MAT 120 Intermediate Algebra with Review
5 credits
  A combination of intermediate algebra and a review of introductory algebra. Algebra operations on polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions; solve linear quadratic, rational and absolute value equations and inequalities algebraically and graphically, solve systems of linear equations algebraically and graphically; and real world applications and use of current technology.
May not receive credit for both MAT 120 and MAT 121.

Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 090, MAT091,or MAT 092, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 121 Intermediate Algebra
4 credits
  Algebraic operations on polynomial, rational, and radical expression and complex numbers; graph polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions; solve linear quadratic rational and absolue value equations and inequalities algebraically and graphically, solve systems of linear equations algebraically; and real world applications and use of current technology.
May not receive credit for both MAT 120 and MAT 121.

Prerequisites: Grade of "B" or better in MAT090, or MAT091, or MAT 092, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 142 College Mathematics
3 credits
  Working knowledge of college-level mathematics and its applications to real-life problems. Emphasis on understanding mathematical concepts and their applications rather than on manipulative skills. Appropriate for the student whose major does not require college algebra or pre-calculus.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 120, or MAT 121, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 150 College Algebra/Functions
5 credits
  A combination of college algebra and a review of topics prerequisite to college algebra. Study of algebraic equations and inequalities, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions, conics, systems of equations and inequalities, matrices and determinants, mathematical induction, sequences and series, and combinatorics.
May not receive credit in MAT 150, MAT 151, MAT 182, and MAT 187. Not open to students with credit in MAT 151, or MAT 152, or MAT 187.

Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 120, or MAT 122, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 151 College Algebra/Functions
4 credits
  A study of quadratic equations, relations and functions, theory of equations, systems of equations and inequalities, matrices and determinants, binomial theorem, sequences, series, permutations, combinations and probability.
May not receive credit in MAT 150, MAT 151, MAT 182, and MAT 187. Not open to students with credit in MAT 151, or MAT 152, or MAT 187.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 120, or MAT 121, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 156 Mathematics for Elementary Teachers I
3 credits
  Investigation of mathematical principles and process with an emphasis on various teaching methodologies. Includes number systems, intuitive geometry, problem solving, elementary algebra, measurement, elementary statistics, and probability. Designed to meet the requirements for preservice elementary school teachers.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 142 or MAT 150, or MAT 151 or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 157 Mathematics for Elementary Teachers II
3 credits
  Focuses on measurement, geometry, probability and data analysis. Appropriate technologies, problem solving, reasoning, and proof are integrated throughout the course.
Prerequisites: MAT156 or equivalent.
MAT 172 Finite Math
3 credits
  An introduction to the mathematics required for the study of social and behavioral sciences. Includes sets, combinatorics, probability, matrix algebra, linear programming and mathematics of finance.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 150, or MAT 151 or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 182 Plane Trigonometry
3 credits
  A study of measures of angles, properties of graphs of trigonometric functions, fundamental identities, addition and half-angle formulas, inverse trigonometric functions, solutions of trigonometric equations, complex numbers and properties of triangle solution.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 150, or MAT 151 or equivalent, or concurrent registration in MAT 150, or MAT151 or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 187 Precalculus
5 credits
  A pre-calculus course combining topics from college algebra and trigonometry. Preparation for analytic geometry and calculus.
Prerequisites: Grade of "B" or better in MAT 120 or MAT121, or equivalent or satisfactory score on a placement exam.
Strongly recommended that students have some knowledge of trigonometry.
MAT 206 Elements of Statistics
3 credits
  Basic concepts and applications of statistics, including data description, estimation and hypothesis tests. This course is not recommended for students majoring in Business or Psychology.
Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in MAT142 or a grade of "C" or better in MAT150, or MAT151, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 212 Brief Calculus
3 credits
  An introduction to the theory, techniques and applications of the differential and integral calculus of elementary functions with problems of interest to students in business and the social sciences.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 150 or MAT 151 or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 213 Brief Calculus
3 credits
  Introduction to the theory, techniques, and applications of the differential and integral calculus of functions with problems related to business, life, and the social sciences.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT150, or MAT151, or MAT152, or MAT187 or equivalent, or satisfactory score on District placement exam.
MAT 218 Mathematical Analysis for Business
4 credits
  An introduction to the mathematics required for the study of business. Includes multivariable optimization, Lagrange multipliers, linear programming, linear algebra, probability, random variables, discrete and continuous distributions.
Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in MAT212 or MAT213.
MAT 220 Calculus with Analytical Geometry I
5 credits
  Topics from analytic geometry with special emphasis on inequalities and absolute value expressions, limits, continuity, the fundamental principles and formulae for differential and integral calculus along with their applications to geometry and mechanics, the mean value theorems and the fundamental theorem of calculus.
May not receive credit for MAT 220 and MAT 221.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 150 or MAT 151 or MAT 152 and MAT 182, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on placement exam.
MAT 225 Elementary Linear Algebra
3 credits
  Introduction to matrices, systems of linear equations, determinants, vector spaces, linear transformations and eigenvalues. Emphasizes the development of computational skills.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 212, MAT 220, or MAT 221, or equivalent.
MAT 227 Discrete Mathematical Structures
3 credits
  Introduction to lattices, graphs, Boolean algebras, and groups. Emphasis on topics relevant to computer science.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in CSC 100 and MAT 220 or equivalent, or permission from the instructor.
MAT 230 Calculus with Analytical Geometry II
5 credits
  Methods of integration, applications of calculus, elements of analytic geometry, improper integrals, sequences and series.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 220 or MAT 221, or equivalent.
MAT 240 Calculus with Analytical Geometry III
5 credits
  Multivariate calculus including vectors, vector- valued functions, partial differentiation, multiple integration, and an introduction to vector fields. Note: Student may receive credit for only one of the following: MAT240 or MAT241.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 230 or MAT 231.
MAT 261 Differential Equations
4 credits
  Methods of integration, applications of calculus, elements of analytic geometry, improper integrals, sequences and series.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT 230 or MAT 231, or equivalent.
