Home & Vehicle Defense (AJS156)

The Home and Vehicle Personal Defense class addresses the problems of making yourself secure at home and while traveling. It includes design considerations of the home and equipment considerations in the vehicle to make them more secure as well as methods to prevent yourself from becoming a victim. Class has 4 hours of lecture and 4 hours of range training for each day (two days total).

Cost: The class is 1 credit hour and there is a $35 lab fee to pay for range fees, supplies and targets. If you are not registered for a class at GCC, there is also a $15 registration fee.

What firearm may I use: Any semiautomatic pistol or revolver may be used. For best results, .380ACP and larger calibers are recommended.

May I borrow a firearm: Yes. Firearms in caliber 9mm are made available for students needing one. If borrowing a college firearm, you will need to supply factory new USA manufactured 9mm ammunition.

Student requirements: Pistol or revolver (one may be borrowed from the instructor), strong side belt holster, 200 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, ear protection (school has some available if needed) and cap with a bill to protect the face.

Prerequisites: Completion of Firearms I as a minimum and Firearms II is recommended.
