Types of Temporary Employees
The Onboarding Team's main responsibility is to in-process and maintain new hire and returning temporary employees. Temporary employees typically fall into three categories:Budget employees are defined as temporary non work study workers whose salaries are paid from the employee's department budget. All new and returning budget employees must onboard through Employee Resources before reporting to their departments. Onboarding usually takes approximately 30 minutes. Work Study employees are defined as students who work on campus on a part-time basis only. The salary of work study employees is paid through the Federal Financial Aid Program. All new and returning student employees must in-process through Employee Resources before reporting to their departments. Onboarding usually takes approximately 30 minutes. Adjunct Instructors and Substitute Faculty are defined as temporary part-time instructors whose salary is paid from the employee's department budget.
