Student Advisory Board, Spring, 2002
Members of the Honors Program Student Advisory board assist and support the Honors Program in meeting the needs of Honors students. They promote the Honors Program on campus, in the community, and to other Honors Programs.
The GCC Honors Program Student Advisory Board members are selected by the Honors Program Coodinator and the Honors Faculty Advisory Board on the basis of competitive application. Prospective members must have completed at least one semester in the GCC Honors Program.
Honors Program Student Advisory Board members gain leadership experience and have a voice in determining policy and procedures for the Honors Program. Students also enjoy an enhanced resume, a book stipend, and travel opportunities as reward for their service on the Board.
Student Advisory Board members act as liaison between the Honors Office and Honors students and faculty. Meeting twice a year with the Honors Faculty Advisory Committee, they represent Honors students' concerns to the Faculty Advisory Committee. Additionally, they make policy recommendations regarding the Honors program. Student Advisory Board members may initiate and/or assist with Honors Program social, cultural, and service activities. Each member serves on the board for one full semester, with appointments renewable for a total of five semesters.
