Lisa Natham

GCC students Lisa Natham and Nikina D'Andrea have been nominated to the All-USA Academic Team, a national competition sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and USA Today. The competition recognizes scholarly achievements of students enrolled in community, technical, and junior colleges. Nominees are chosen on the basis of outstanding grade point averages; participation in honors programs; awards, honors, and recognition for academic achievement and service to the college and the community.

Nikina D'Andrea

Either the President of each college or a committee designated by the President selects two students to represent the college in the competition. All-Arizona team members receive full-tuition scholarships to the state university of their choice in addition to cash awards and are entered in the National Team competition. Members of the National First Team each receive a $2,500 cash stipend. Academic Team nominees also have the opportunity to apply for the Phi Theta Kappa Washington, D.C. Internship Program, with positions available at the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, Association of Community College Trustees, American Association of Community Colleges, and Phi Beta appa.
