Erika Gonzalez, a GCC Honors Program student, has been named a Gates Millennium Scholar!! Steve Williams and Michael McKinley of the Biology Department nominated Erika for this prestigious award. Erika plans to continue study here at GCC for the coming academic year, complete her undergraduate work in Life Sciences at ASU West, and then enter an MD/Ph.D. program in order to help children through both medical practice and research. The Gates Millennium Scholarship will fund Erika's education through all these levels. Erika is currently participating in a summer honors program for pre-medical students co-sponsored by Baylor and Rice universities in Texas. Way to go, Erika–and her nominating professors, too!
