Eligibility for the Honors Program

Presidents' Scholarship

for New Students

Recent graduates from an NCA accredited high school within Maricopa County may apply for the Presidents' Scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must verify that they rank in the top 15% of their graduating class in the 6th, 7th or 8th semester. Eligible students must enroll in the academic year following high school graduation. Enrollment in any institution other than one of the Maricopa Community Colleges (summers excepted) will nullify the Presidents' Scholarship.

Recent high school graduates who did not rank in the top 15% of their respective high school classes or who graduated from non-NCA accredited high schools are eligible to apply for the Presidents' Scholarship if they have scored exceptionally high on a GCC Placement Test, as indicated below.

Test Scores

The Presidents' Scholarship covers the cost of in-county tuition for 15 credits hours per semester. The scholarship is automatically renewed for a total of four consecutive semesters (summers excluded) as long the student meets the following criteria.

Students whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.0 at the end of their first semester will lose their Presidents' Scholarship, which cannot be reinstated. Placement on academic probation or suspension will result in loss of scholarship, which cannot be reinstated.
