The Pay4Print system is based on each student having a Pay4Print account tied to their GCC student ID card and their eGCC username and password.
- Students use their GCC student ID cards to add money to their Pay4Print account. The ID card may need to be pre- or re-encoded. This can be done at the Helpdesk in HT1, the Tech Desk in LMC or the Tech Desk in the GCCN Library. Pay4Print deposit stations are available in HT1, LMC, and GCCN Library. Students cannot have more than $10.00 (100 prints) in their account at any one time.
- Cost for printing is 10 cents per sheet for B&W. The option of color laser prints for 50 cents per sheet is available in the LMC and HT1 on the Main campus, and in the Library at GCCN. Note that if you print on both sides of the sheet, you get each print for half the cost.
- Students use their eGCC username and password to release their print jobs at any release station. The money is deducted from the Pay4Print account when the job prints. There are print release stations in HT1, HT2, LMC and Math Solutions on the Main campus. At GCCN the release stations are in the Library Computer Commons.
- Print problems, such as jams and low toner, will be handled immediately by having a lab staff member release the job. No credits or refunds will be given for bad prints. Students who will not be returning to GCC can get a refund of their Pay4Print account balance from the Cashiers Office.
- If the GCC ID card is lost, the student does not lose the money. It remains in the Pay4Print account. The student can continue to print without an ID card as long as there is still money in the account. Once the ID card is replaced, the student can again add money to the account.
For those classes that require large numbers of handouts, please consider these options:
- Encourage students to print on both sides of the paper by choosing the Duplex printing option.
- Encourage students to print only the pages needed by using the preview option.
- Encourage students to print more than one slide of a PowerPoint presentation on a page by using the Handout option.
- Utilize digital media. Post class handouts in Blackboard or on a web site for students to view without having to print.
- Save files in easy to use formats such as .pdf or .rtf so that students will be able to view online materials from any computer.
Alternative printing options are available via the campus Copy Center for courses that require students to print large amounts. For example, if a student is required to print out a 100 page PDF document printing in the open labs costs $10 for 100 prints. Less expensive options through the IKON Copy Center are:
- Add a course fee to the class to cover the costs of printing and have the materials printed and ready for faculty to bring to class. This is the least expensive route for the student. The GCC contract cost for printing through IKON is 4 cents per copy. Using our example, the 100 pages cost $4.
- Refer students to the on-campus Copy Center to have their prints made. Cost to the students for bringing in files (PDF, doc, etc.,) to be printed is 5 cents per printed side - 20-copy min. This option would require students to bring the file to the Copy Center and pick it up when complete. This example costs $5 for 100 pages.
- Use a copy request to order print jobs for students to pick up. Faculty can contact the Copy Center and request they print copies to have on hand for students to buy from IKON at a cost of 5 cents per copy. The advantage is students do not need to deliver the file nor do they have to wait for it to be printed. This example, costs $5.
