This feature allows duplexed print jobs to use half the amount of paper as ones that are printed on one side only. Here at GCC, duplex printing also saves money. With the cost of B&W printing at 10 cents per sheet, each impression on a double-sided print job costs only 5 cents. You can save half-cost by duplexing color prints as well.
The new printers were operational one week before fall classes started. We currently have duplex printing available in HT1 (4), HT2(1), LMC (1), Math Solutions(1), LMC-North(1). Even the new color printers in HT1(1), LMC(1), and LMC-North(1) are all capable of Duplex printing.
The heavy duty, high volume, faster printers we purchased allowed us to go from 2 printers to one in some areas. This reduces the long term impact on the landfills. We also recovered the old printers back into inventory for future use - saving money and landfill.
In Windows, to print double-sided, click the Properties button on the Print dialog box, select the Printing Shortcuts tab, choose Two Sided (Duplex) Printing, and click OK twice. To print double-sided on a Mac, click Print, select Layout from the third box down, choose Long-edge binding from Two-Sided, and click Print.
