About Our Flex Yoga Instructors

The GCC yoga faculty will give all skill levels the opportunity to go to another level in the yoga practice through body awareness and the knowledge of greater possibilities.

Mimi Solarie is certified by Yoga Alliance. She is a member of the Arizona Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has produced two videos "Back in Shape" and "Prenatal Yoga".

Anna Hall is a member of Arizona Yoga Alliance and Registered Yoga Teachers. She has been certified and teaching Yoga for over 6 years and is also a licensed Massage Therapist.

Michael Warner has been teaching yoga since 2001 and is certified Level 2 Anusara, a yoga which emphasizes alignment and form. He is a member of the Arizona Yoga Association and Registered Yoga Teachers.

Jan Svendsen is a former Olympian that discovered the benefits of yoga to heal injuries. She has been teaching yoga for over 5 years in the Anusara style, a yoga which emphasizes alignment.

Policies & Procedures

Please Remember:

  • Always bring your GCC ID card
  • Be on time
  • Stay for the entire class. The relaxation is very important
  • Please turn off cell phones
  • Please refrain from loud socializing during class
  • No heavy fragrances, please.

Identification Cards

All yoga students must obtain a GCC ID card. ID cards are available at the Information Desk in the Enrollment Center Monday-Thursday 8am-7pm & Friday 9am-4:30pm. Your GCC student ID card must be presented at each yoga class and will be returned at the end of the class.

Grading

Grading is based on the total number of classes attended by the student before the end date. Students are advised to check their total number of classes each week in the Aerobics Office, FW-18. If there is a discrepancy, hours can be modified for the previous 5 days only.

NOTE: Student may attend ANY class on the schedule.

P/Z Grading Scale 1 Credit
13 classes P (pass)
<13 classes Z (no credit)

Attendance Procedures and Safety Considerations

Each yoga instructor has the professional responsibility and right to not permit a student to participate in class, if in the professional opinion of the instructor, the student's ability is unsafe to themselves or others.

All students MUST have a GCC student ID card to participate in a yoga class. Students that arrive prior to class should wait outside if the previous class is still in progress. Upon entering the classroom, each student must place his/her identification card in the ID card box by the north door. During class, the GCC ID cards will be collected and scanned for attendance. ID cards will be returned at the end of class. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be permitted to attend class as they will have missed the warm-up. For your safety, all students must participate for the entire class.

Workout Attire

Students my wear any type of workout clothing in class. Workout attire should be comfortable and non-restrictive. Yoga mats and blocks are provided.

Locks & Lockers

Free locks and lockers are available in the men's and women's locker rooms. During the summer, students must provide their own locks. Bring your GCC ID card to the assistant in the locker room equipment cage. Please leave all of your valuables at home or in your locker. Do not bring valuables to class.

Guests & Children

All participants in yoga classes must be registered in the yoga program. All students in the classroom must participate. "Observing" class is not permitted. Children are not allowed in the classroom to watch or participate. There is a child care facility on campus. For more information, please call (623) 845-3197.
