Important Dates for Financial Aid

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year, as soon as possible after October 1 for the next year's fall term.

2017-2018
  • At the very latest, your FAFSA must be received by the processor no later than June 30, 2018, or processed results received while you are still enrolled, whichever is earliest, to receive aid for the 2017-18 school year
2018-2019
  • At the very latest, your FAFSA must be received by the processor no later than June 30, 2019, or processed results received while you are still enrolled, whichever is earliest, to receive aid for the 2018-19 school year

Tuition and Fee Deferral Deadlines

All required documents must be complete and received by the deadline listed for that semester. A valid Student Aid Report should be received 30 days prior to these deadlines.

Awards are based on 2017-2018 FAFSA results for Fall 2017, Spring 2018, and Summer 2018.

Disbursements

Excess aid (the amount remaining after all tuition, fees, book advance, and any other related charges are covered) will be disbursed through the MSRP process. Students should not expect their funds any earlier than the third week after their earliest class start, dependent upon the MSRP delivery method selected. Students with late starting classes or overlapping classes from a prior term may have some (or all) of their grant and/or loan disbursements delayed further. PELL Recalculation Dates

FALL 2017 August 28, 2017
SPRING 2018 January 22, 2018
SUMMER 2018 May 31, 2018

PELL Grants are based on a student's enrollment level as of the PELL census date. Course enrollment registrations made after the census date cannot be awarded. PELL Grant awards for financial aid applications received after the census date will be calculated based on the student's enrollment at the time they are awarded.

Consortium Agreement Deadlines

If you are completing a Consortium Agreement to take a course at another institution and receive financial aid for that class at GCC, you must submit a Consortium Agreement to the GCC Financial Aid Office prior to the schedule adjustment date. Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits hours at GCC to submit a Consortium Agreement at GCC.

Students selected for Verification

ALL requested verification documentation must be received no later than 120 days after your last day of enrollment – OR - the end of the award year (August 18, 2017 for the 2016-2017 award year), whichever is earlier, to ensure a correct Student Aid Report (SAR) is received by the federally mandated deadline.

GCC verifies all students who are selected by the Department of Education Central Processor for verification even if this verification process has been performed at another institution not within the Maricopa Community College District for the same award year.

Failure to comply with requests and/or missing deadlines will result in forfeiture of Title IV funding.
