The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the application used to determine financial aid awards, whether federal grants, student loans, or federal work-study.

Your annual FAFSA application will require information from your Federal Tax Return (from 2 years prior to the academic year for which you are applying

  • 2015 taxes are used for the 2017-2018 FAFSA
  • 2016 taxes are used for the 2018-2019 FAFSA

You may complete your FAFSA applkicatoin early as October 1 as long as the appropriate year's Federal Tax Return has been filed.

  • October 1, 2017 for the 2018-2019 academic year

The deadline to complete the FAFSA application is June 30 of the current academic year (e.g. June 30, 2018 is the deadline to file a FAFSA application for the 2017-2018 academic year).

To be considered for Financial Aid every year, you must fill out the FAFSA every year. The government budgets a limited amount of money for federal student aid. So don't wait. The earlier you submit your FAFSA, the better your chances of receiving financial aid.
