FAQ'sQ. How do I log into STARS and apply for GCC scholarships?
A. You must apply for GCC scholarships online through the following STARS website. Please keep in mind this program is only open during time periods when scholarship applications are being taken. http://www.maricopa.edu/foundation/apply/index.php?p=2
Q. What scholarships does GCC offer?
A. GCC has hundreds of scholarship opportunities open at different times of the year. Current scholarships are open now through STARS.
Q. What is the difference between scholarships and financial aid?
A. Scholarships are private monies given by individuals, businesses, organizations, and employees for students to continue on with their educational endeavors. Financial Aid is federal monies and your financial need is determined through the Department of Education.
Q. Do I just need to complete one STARS application if I am applying for several scholarships?
A. Yes. Your unique profile will automatically be compared to criteria for available scholarships to determine probable eligibility. You may work at your own pace up to the application deadline and return at your convenience to check your application status.
Q. When is the deadline for the majority of GCC and Maricopa Foundation Scholarships?

Q. What kind of programs do I need to run using STARS?
A. Please use the latest version of Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, or Safari. Also enable cookies and please allow pop-ups.
Q. What should I do if I experience difficulty accessing my STARS account?
A. If it is your first time using STARS, please click on the "START HERE" button on the login page. If there are no available scholarship opportunities, new applications will not be accepted. If you are a returning user, refer to the username and password in the welcome email you received when you created your account.
Q. What if I do not know how to use a computer?
A. At this time the majority of the scholarship applications are completing on-line. Exceptions are made on a case-by –case situation. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 480.731.8407 for further information.
Q What kind of answers should I provide on my written questions?
A. Read and clearly understand the criteria for the scholarship you are applying for. This is your chance to present yourself to the individual or group granting the scholarship, so be very clear on your answers. For example, what are the details of your life, what efforts have you made and what difficulties or obstacles have you had to overcome in order to finance your education, and do you have any hobbies/interest.

Q. How do I check the status of my application?
A. To check the status of your application, log in to your STARS account. The status will read "Applied For," "Pending," "Awarded" or "Denied." Your application is under review until the status is either "Awarded" or "Denied."
