Absence, Adjunct Faculty
All instructors including substitute instructors are expected to be present for each class for the entire period as listed in the class schedule. Adjunct Faculty members unable to work must notify the department chairperson or Faculty Evening Supervisor (See Directory) as early as possible to permit hiring a substitute. When possible, at least a 24-hour notice of inability to work is desirable. The Department Chairperson or Assistant Chairperson is responsible for contacting substitutes and reporting the absence to GCC Employee Resources, 623.845.3400. This office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If the Department Chairperson or Faculty Evening Supervisor cannot be contacted within two hours of the class meeting, notify the college wide Evening Administrator by calling the switchboard operator (623.845.3000) or College Safety (623.845.3535). Class is cancelled if a substitute is unavailable. Adjunct faculty are not paid for absences.
