Introduction
Each semester eCourses serve the educational needs of full-time and part-time GCC students. Online, Hybrid and Open Entry/Open Exit courses provide busy people the opportunity to fit education into their lives.e
Courses meet the same academic standards as traditional, face-to-face courses. They are taught by GCC instructors. They employ materials created by the instructor and textbook publishers. These courses may also include a variety of web-based communication technologies to meet learning objectives. Most eCourses are delivered using the Blackboard Course Management System.
What are the different eCourse formats?
- Online - An online course does not meet in a classroom. Learn online from home, work, or on-campus anytime of the day. Students must register by the first day of class as indicated in the class schedule. Students may be required to come to campus or make arrangements to take examinations in a proctored environment. Students are required to complete a minimum initial assignment within the first week of class.
- Hybrid - Combines the advantages of an on-campus instructor led class with the flexibility of online learning and other learning experiences. On-campus classroom seat time is reduced requiring more independent learning time (online or other format) by the student as compared to traditional on-campus classes.
- Open Entry/Open Exit - OEE courses begin throughout the semester with students receiving individualized start dates. Students have 16 weeks from their start date to complete the course, which is often implemented in an online environment. Students are required to complete a minimum initial assignment within the first five days of the class start date.
