My Biography

Rebecca Rabideau is from Saratoga Springs, New York, where she began her dance training in Ballet, Tap and Jazz at an early age, with additional training in Modern and Ballet from the many New York City-based choreographers and dancers who visit Saratoga every summer. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Choreography and Performance from the State University of New York College at Brockport and her Bachelor of Science in Dance from Skidmore College. She has studied a variety of dance forms including Irish Step Dance and the Indian Classical Dance form Bharata Natyam, with a focused study on Modern Dance, specifically Limon, Cunningham and Laban-based techniques. Her training includes intensives with Bill T. Jones, Trisha Brown, Lar Lubovitch, Mark Morris, and David Parsons, and study with Garth Fagan, Robert Battle and Bebe Miller. A prolific choreographer, her work has been presented throughout New York. After dancing for a variety of regional companies, Rebecca founded the contemporary dance company Converge Dance in 2009. The company premiered with a full-evening, self-produced concert in May 2010. In 2010-2011 Converge performed at the Nazareth College Dance Festival, Buffalo Infringement Festival, University of Rochester, Cobblestone Arts Center, and Nazareth College, and was visiting artist-in-residence at Hillside Children’s Center. In 2011 Converge presented it’s second annual showcase “May Day Dances”.

Rebecca has been teaching dance since the age of 17. Prior to moving to Arizona, she served on the dance faculty of Nazareth College and Roberts Wesleyan College and taught ballet to pre-professional students and adults. Since moving to Arizona in 2012, she has been certified in barre-fitness technique and her choreography has been presented at Glendale Community College, ACDFA, and Center Dance Ensemble. Rebecca is currently the Dance Program Director at Glendale Community College and is the Artistic Director of VERVE Dance Company
