Marketing and Communications
Marketing and Communications employees are image and brand guardians, storytellers, social media mavens and visual designers. We shape, elevate and promote the perceptions of GCC through creative, proven and emerging media.
We also provide integrated marketing communications planning and support while serving as communication consultants for all academic and administrative units. Following industry best practices, we offer our expertise to help colleagues position GCC regionally and nationally.
Our services are responsive and supportive and include strategic goal-setting and implementation of brand management, integrated marketing communications, media relations, public relations, communications and social engagement.
On our site, you’ll find a brand standards toolkit, a social media directory and other guides to help you market programs, classes and events.
We use marketing tools to communicate, engage, acquire and convert. We watch trends and find the avenues that meet students where they are. You’ll see GCC marketing and advertising efforts in print, social media, mobile environments, even ambient media.

Crisis Communication and Emergency Management
In the midst of an emergency, staff serve as Public Information Officers (PIO) to coordinate emergency communications with Public Safety officers and to implement Emergency Response Plan procedures. We distribute emergency messaging to staff and students using several tools, including:
- Alertus beacon system (on campus)
- Rave MEMS alert (email and text)
- Social Media
Special events at GCC communicate our growth and build a positive image for the college. Since they often require significant coordination of details, we help academic and administrative departments host facility grand openings, student and faculty events and employee recognition celebrations.
Graphic Design and Photography
You’ve seen our graphic design work on theatre posters, art show postcards, athletics programs, parking lot banners, and the campus map – just to name a few items. In fact, each year we fulfill nearly 400 requests for print and electronic graphic design services.
Our office maintains an online photo archive on Flickr. The photos posted on Flickr are available for general campus use.
Along with the Computer Applications team in IT, our office manages much of the content on the College's public-facing website, including copy, graphic design and video. We determine new systems integration and make constant improvements to the user experience on our website. But we don’t do this alone! Along with a team of faculty who serve as an implementation review team, we also train department staff members to write SEO-optimized web content.
