Counseling Services helps a student take career assessment.

You’re off to a great start!

New Student Orientation (NSO)

New Student Orientation is a free course designed to help all new students get familiar with GCC before starting classes. You’ll learn about services on campus, where to go for help and how to transfer credits to a university. You’ll also get a tour of campus so you’ll know where your classrooms are located.

NSO is offered at the start of each semester. Sign up online in your Maricopa Student Center or call the Enrollment Center at Main or North.

Counseling/Personal Development (CPD) Classes

All first-time college students planning to complete an associates’ degree or transfer to a university who test into one or more courses below 100 level are required to complete a college success course, CPD 150 or CPD 115.  These classes, offered online and in person at Main and North campus, have no prerequisites and may transfer as university electives.

Strategies for College Success (CPD 150) will teach you to improve memory, manage test anxiety, and develop a career and educational plan.

Creating College Success (CPD 115) will teach you self-awareness and self-management strategies that create a richer educational experience.
