®Adobe Photoshop CS2

Unit 1 - Draw/Paint

12 points, due Tuesday, January 24

Exercises:

  • Complete the tutorials in Chapter 1 in your book.
  • Go to the Help menu of your software, click on Photoshop Help and read the Help Topics>Getting Started, Help Topics>Work Area and Help Topics>Painting

Notes:

  • Set up a folder for the class on your harddrive or disk you are saving on and transfer the files required for the tutorials on your book/cd to them. You can delete the original files after you finish the tutorial to save space, but keep the working files you developed. You will not turn these files in, but the 20 point quiz/test will have several questions on what/how you did the exercises. If you do all the tutorials assigned and read all the help topics assigned, you will have no problem with the exam.
  • My lessons/tutorials can be completed on a pc or mac. I make them on a pc, so the only real differences is how you save the files and the 3 major key names, enter/return, alt/option, control/command and if i say right click, then you use command left click on mac.

Unit 2 - Photo Retouching

12 points, due Tuesday, January 31

Exercises:

  • Complete the tutorials in Chapters 3 and 4 in your book.
  • Go to the Help menu of your software, click on Photoshop Help and read the Help Topics>Getting Images into Photoshop and ImageReady

Notes:

  • You will need to get access to a scanner. If the scanner drivers are installed on your computer and you can scan without Photoshop, Photoshop will pick the drivers up and offer you to scan thru Photoshop. Go to File>Import and your scanner should be listed here. There are probably a thousand reasons why it may not be there and I couldn't even begin to troubleshoot your problem without seeing it physically, but I have hooked up many scanners thru the years and 99% of the time Photoshop will pick it up. If not, you will have to scan a picture, save it and then open it in Photoshop to alter it.
  • If you have a digital camera or camcorder, hook it up to your computer and try to get Photoshop to receive it. It will be listed in the import menu if it picks up the connection. Otherwise, again, you will have to save your pics in the software provided with your camera and then open them in Photoshop.
