®Adobe Photoshop CS2

Course Syllabus

You will need to have access to ®Adobe Photoshop CS2 software.

"Students not purchasing their own software can utilize High Tech Center I (HTCI)  at Glendale Community College, 6000 West Olive Avenue, Glendale AZ 85308.  It is strongly recommended that students attend the HTC Orientation session.  For the Orientation Schedule and other HT information, please log on to :  htp://www.gc.maricopa.edu/htc.  You will be given a tour of the center and the  Macintosh instructional computers that are available to you for this course."

Course Overview/Policies/Grading

The course will be released on August 18th. On this date you will go to the Start Here - Daily Notes link and the directions will be laid out for you. The first thing you will be doing is establishing email contact with me and I will give you a password to log in to the lessons/assignments as soon as I verify that you are on the roster. I will not release the lessons/assignments early. If you are one to jump ahead, get the book and work the chapters in it. You will have until October 4 to complete the course assignments. You will be emailing your assignments to me and I will have the directions on how to do this when the course dates start. We will be in touch semi-daily thru the Start Here - Daily Notes page.

Course Description

Introduction to the multiple elements of Photoshop software package using the microcomputer. Basic foundation in the use of electronic techniques including appropriate input and output production devices. Prerequisites: ART100 or permission of instructor.

Course Competencies

1. Describe the basic operational system of input, storage, and output as it relates to the Adobe Photoshop imaging software.
2. Describe the general properties of computer-photographic image processing in the Adobe Photoshop application.
3. Use various imaging methods of the Adobe Photoshop software to alter photographic images electronically.

Grade Scale

A = 90-100 points
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69 less than 60 points
F = >60

Assignments:
The standard grading policy will be used . I will not give any incompletes or extensions for any reason. If you are having a problem as to why you cannot finish on time, I will withdraw you or give you a grade for the work you have finished. No exceptions. I will withdraw you at any time, but you have to request that to me.

Students should start their assignments during the first week of the class.  Due dates will be provided in the course materials.  Late work will receive penalty points.  Students who do not turn in any assignments by end of the fourth week of class Friday, February 10, will be withdrawn.

I cannot add you on the roster if the course is full. I will make a list of those that would like to add if you email me and if enough students are interested, I will let the department chair know and maybe another section could be added, at least for the second half of the semester.
