Attendance and Participation

Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class periods. More than two (2) unexcused absences may result in a withdrawal. Students are responsible to make up work missed due to absence. Active participation is imperative with projects, critiques and labs. Completed assignments must reflect work done in labs. Lack of participation may result in lower letter grade.

Evaluation and Grading

Students will receive the grade they earn from a combination of attendance, class participation, and the completion of all course requirements. This includes exercises, preliminary work and final projects. Grades will lower 5 points for each day late, except with an excused absence. Attention to detail in presentation of final projects is expected. (A=100-92, B=91-84, C=83-72, D=71-60, F=59 or lower.)

Projects/Assignments

This is a project-based class. It is strongly recommended that you back up your files regularly. Do not trust the server. A “thumb” drive is recommended. Students may use printed, televised, or internet images with the understanding that they may not be reproduced commercially without permission from the owner.

We are planning to visit an offset litho print shop. If there is a reason why you cannot go on a field trip, please contact your instructor.

Classroom Guidelines

Students are expected to be respectful with each other. Please ask questions if there is anything you do not understand. You are encouraged to discuss projects with each other in class as long as you are not disruptive to others. No chemicals are to be used in class. Cell phones & pagers must be turned off during class.

Students with Disabilities

Please inform the instructor of any special needs or considerations. If you have a disability that may have some impact on your work in this class and for which you may require accommodations, notify the Disability Services & Resources Office, located at SPS 31. Phone: 623.845.3080
