Course Description

Introduction to Macromedia Flash software. Basic foundation in Flash vector graphics, 2D and 3D animation and

creation of full motion video with sound. Prerequisites: (ART180AD and ART180AE), or permission of instructor.

Each class meeting will consist of a lecture and lab time. It may be necessary for you to use the lab beyond the

basic time allotment.

 

Attendance

Attendance will be taken at each lecture and total attendance will count as one project.You are allowed one unexcused

absence for the semester. Excused or official absences do not count against your grade. Excused

absences include illness, religious holidays, death in the immediate family, unavoidable work commitments and

transportation problems.Work missed will need to be made up.You must make arrangements with me to make up

any work missed due to official, excused or unexcused absences.You must notify me at least one week in

advance of taking any official absences. For a more complete description of absence policy, see the Student

Handbook. If you arrive to class late, it is your responsibility to notify me that you are here and make sure your

attendance is noted (at the end of lecture). Latecomers will get one-half credit for attendance.

Dropping the class: If you must drop this class, you may do so at any time, but you can only receive a refund if

you drop within 4 calendar days, including the first day of class. If you miss 2 classes in a row and have not contacted

me, I will drop you from the class.

 

Grading

You may take this course for a standard letter grade or for credit/no credit (P/Z) option. A grade of P will be given

for work equivalent to a grade of C or better.

Standard grading: A=90%–100% B=80%–89% C=70%–79% D=55–69% F=below 54% I= see below

An incomplete grade will be given only for situations involving unavoidable work commitment, transportation

problems or illness. A request for an “I” must be made prior to the last class. A written

contract must be filled out and signed showing what work has been completed, what still needs to

be completed and completion date.

Grades will be based on completion of in-class projects (see attached calendar), attendance & class participation.

Coursework will be weighted as follows: Assignments-85%; Attendance & Class Participation-15%.

Projects may be turned in late with a deduction of 5 percent per class period late, but projects will not be

accepted morethan 2 class periods late. NOTE: PROJECTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THESE

DEADLINES.

Software: It is illegal to copy software and associated files except those provided by the book publisher. Students

who pirate software may be withdrawn from the course Taping: You may tape lectures for your own use in understanding

the course, but it is a violation of copyright to use them for any other purpose. Course content may vary
