Programs Utilized

Deciding which program to use is up to you. I encourage everyone to focus on Photoshop and Illustrator, as they are the industry standards. Demos will focus on these two programs.

You are responsible for choosing your own computer lab times outside of class, in order to finish assigned homework.

Teaching Methods

Class will be a mix of small lectures, class discussion, critiques and software demos. Critiques on projects and sketch assignments will be mostly one-on-one with occasional class critiques.

Attendance

Just as professionalism is critical to your success as a designer, attendance and participation is critical to your success as a student.

You may miss no more than 2 classes unless you have an excused absence with appropriate documentation. Missing more than 2 classes will result in an expulsion from the class. Because we are only meeting 10 times, missing even 1 class will greatly diminish your ability to understand the material and complete your projects.

If you miss a class, you are required to e-mail me so I can help you stay up to date.

Attendance and punctuality will be reflected in your final grade.

Course Expectations

You MUST present your work on the date due. If it is incomplete, you will have a chance to revise it and present it again at the final critique. If you don't present your work on the initial date due, it will severely affect your grade.

All readings must be completed so you can be ready to discuss the material by the next class. There may be short essay or quiz assigned on any reading topic.

Cell phones must be turned off while in class. If you need to make a call, you can take a break during the lab portion of class.
