10/28/02: Construction Update #8

Introduction
A footnote in each Construction Update is that the schedule, like a course syllabus, is tentative. This week the pace of construction will pick up, necessitating an earlier update. Those of you with offices in the 01, 02, 05, Business, LMC, CL and LA Bldgs. please read the following carefully.
Construction Highlights - October 28 - November 1
Effective Tuesday, October 29 the sidewalk connecting the 02 Bldg. with the Library Media Center will be demolished. This sidewalk is part of the fire lane that connects the east-west mall with the road running between the LMC an CL Bldg. A thicker sidewalk with Grasspave2 on each side will be poured.The nearest walkways for employees and students trying to cross the east-west mall will be the two walkways north of the Business Bldg. or the one northwest of the HU Bldg.
Fire lane construction will continue on the east-west mall in the direction of the HU Bldg. The north half of this walkway will remain intact and open to traffic.
Though construction will necessitate detours for many on the east end of the campus, there is a silver lining to this cloud. In fact, two. First, the College will add an additional walkway connecting the north end of the LA Bldg with the CL Bldg. Many of you have asked for this in past years. Second we are about 3 weeks away from the end of this project and about 2 weeks from anymore significant disruptions or sidewalk closures. We appreciate your patience.
