Adjunct Faculty: In the Loop

Assessment

Glendale Community College's academic assessment program stems from a belief that assessment of a student's academic achievement has a fundamental role in the improvement of student learning. A sound program of assessment is essential to the verification of an institution's accountability to both its internal and external constituents.

Assessment is more than conventional evaluation or testing of student knowledge. It is an ongoing process, perhaps best thought of as the creation and maintenance of a continuous feedback loop, and the effective use of the results supplied by this "loop" to improve student learning. At GCC, assessment is conducted on three levels: College-wide, Program and Course.
