Adjunct Faculty Teaching Load Limit
The maximum teaching load for adjunct faculty within the Maricopa County Community College District regardless of which college you teach at or regardless of the number of colleges you teach at is nine (9.0) load hours per semester, with one (1) load hour equal to two (2) clock hours per week . Service faculty will be limited to twenty (20) hours per week.Authorized personnel must approve exceptions to these limitations for Human Resources.
The Arizona State Retirement System (A.S.R.S.) requires that any employee who currently works 20 hours or more per week (for adjunct faculty, ten load hours or more is used), for 20 weeks or more in a fiscal year, and contributes to Social Security (FICA) will be required to make contributions to the A.S.R.S. program.
