CAD Technology (AAS)

Program Information

The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in CAD Technology degree provides students with experience in the manipulation of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects using industry standard CAD software and includes training in presentation and animation methods as well as in documentation conventions. Elective options in architecture, manufacturing, and civil projects supply focus on specific professional application software. Additionally, students are required to enroll in a departmental elective from a second professional group, thus broadening their experience of the design sector and heightening their skills in and perceptions of the range of design possibilities.

Program Notes

The following CAD Technology program tracks are available at GCC:

  • Track 1: Architectural CAD [Arch]
  • Track 2: Civil CAD [Civil]
  • Track 3: Manufacturing CAD [Manuf]

You must earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses required within this program.

The semesters in which general education courses (SB, HU, COM, and Science) are suggested are flexible and may be switched in sequence. You should consider taking one or more of these courses during the summer session in order to distribute your class load more evenly between the semesters.

A total of six (6) credits of Restricted Electives are required for this program. Some restricted electives may have prerequisites and/or corequisites that are not included in the total program credits. If you are interested in taking restricted electives that had additional requisites, you will need to adjust your academic plan to incorporate these courses, or obtain permission from your instructor to waive these requirements based on prior experience and/or training.

If you are interested in continuing your education, courses in this CCL program may be applied towards the CCL in CAD Fundamentals and/or CAD Application.
