About Glendale Community College

...new approaches to teaching and learning through technology.
The Paul Pair Endowed Chair

The Paul Pair Endowed Chair was established to reward a faculty member's outstanding contributions to Glendale Community College by integrating teaching with technology. Each year one member of the faculty is named to the Endowed Chair. Outstanding teaching is difficult to define, but easy to recognize. The Paul Pair Endowed Chair provides that recognition.

Faculty members may be nominated by administrators, faculty or staff. Faculty members may nominate themselves. All MCCCD Governing Board appointed faculty with three years of service are eligible recipients. A faculty member may only receive the award one time in a five-year period. Each nominee must submit an application describing the manner in which the nominee meets the selection criteria.

The nominee should be able to meet the following selection criteria:

  1. Exemplify those qualities associated with using innovative and effective methods of instruction through the use of technology.
  2. Demonstrate a commitment to his/her own professional development.
  3. Demonstrate a commitment to implementing new methods of instruction.
  4. Show involvement in the latest technologies that are related to teaching.
  5. Show a wide range of effect upon the instructional program.

The nominations may be in any format and should address each selection criteria. Nominations are reviewed by a selection committee made up of faculty and administrators.
