Spanish Club Captures Knowledge BowlThe fall semester once again kicked off with a fun academic fest as student clubs competed in the annual Knowledge Bowl for a chance at the brainiacs on campus title. The Spanish Club repeated their first-place win of 2010, besting the Philosophy Club, which came in second, and the STEM Club in third.
It was tough and lively going as 14 student clubs participated in the Jeopardy-like competition that serves as the ending ceremony to the Club Fair. The purpose of the fair and the Knowledge Bowl is to increase interactions between the various clubs on campus and to increase both student and employee awareness and support for our student organizations. Studies show that students involved in extracurricular activities are more likely to return the following semester.
Help increase GCC's student retention by encouraging students to be involved in student clubs.
Dr. Kimberly Smith, chemistry professor, says, ”Questions are needed in order to create next semester's Knowledge Bowl. They should be short, 100 course level, multiple choice and with A-D responses. Please include the correct answer. We especially need questions from biology, math, music, history, art and geography. Email suggestions to her at Kimberly.Smith@gcmail.maricopa.edu
