Banner Thunderbird Supports GCC Nursing Program

Francesca M. Bouchard has been awarded a $6,000 scholarship by the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Volunteers. The scholarship will cover her tuition, books and other expenses during the two-year nursing program. She is the 19th GCC nursing student to be awarded the scholarship since 1992.

Bouchard graduates from GCC fall 2012 and continues her goal to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the GCC/NAU campus partnership. Her goal is to ultimately become a wound care nurse in the ER or ICU. She is the first in her family to go to college. This was her first time applying for a scholarship.

She is an outstanding student, attends college full-time, maintains a 3.65 GPA, volunteers in the community and works at the Arizona State Hospital.

In the future, she wants to be with Nurses without Borders and travel to third world countries as a team member to assist with surgical/wound care. She is attending the Southwest Trauma & Acute Care Symposium with Dr. Peter Rhee, University of Arizona Chief of Trauma, Critical Care, & Emergency Surgery, as one of the guest speakers. For additional information regarding scholarship opportunities email or apply for scholarships via STARS Online.

For more GCC scholarship opportunities visit the scholarship and financial aid website. If you are interested in establishing a scholarship, contact, director of development, or call 623-845-3481.
