Staff Kudos and News

September staff news includes kudos and graduations. James Songco, a CAD lab tech in IT, graduated from GCC this past May with his associate degree. Michael Flynn, audio/video technician in the Library Media Center, recently completed his Bachelor of Science in Communication at the University of Phoenix.

A Behind the Scenes Support award has been given to switchboard operators Amy Gonzales, Mary Gessler, Sarah Dougherty and Regina Perryman. In nominating them for the honor, Mary Blackwell, dean of Enrollment Services, says, “The staff is being recognized for extra support with overflow phone calls from Enrollment Services, during this very busy season. We truly appreciate their assistance in handling many financial aid calls over the past several weeks. Jennifer Means has also been of great assistance in helping to trouble shoot solutions for the operators."

Paulette Schnyder
has received a Beyond the Call of Duty award. In submitting the nomination, Stefanie Latham says, Paulette was able to speak to a very volatile student over the phone and remained very composed and calm as she tried to find a solution to the situation. This student had been angry, mean and threatening to various other employees who were trying to help her. To state that the student was totally out of control and using inappropriate language by the time Paulette took over the call would be minimizing the situation. Paulette was even able to wish the student a nice day. She is our hero of the day.”
