Gaucho Student Excels as TGen Helios Scholar

Gaucho student Ryan Richholt is one of 45 graduates who excelled in the biomedical summer internship at the Translational Genomics Research Institute. The 2011 Helios Scholars Program at TGen involved eight weeks of biomedical investigations capped with a daylong symposium filled with oral and poster presentations.

The interns are selected from a very competitive pool of applicants. Under the guidance of TGen faculty, the Helios scholars use cutting edge technology to learn about the genetic causes of diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s and many types of cancer. TGen will begin accepting online applications for next year’s summer Helios program in early 2012.
