New Digital Arts Area Unveiled at Technology MidwayAnother sign that fall is upon us is the annual Technology Midway. In late August, more than 100 staff, faculty and students went to the east end of High Tech1 building to see hands on demonstrations of the college’s latest technology, such as Augmented Reality, and learn about the new Digital Arts area. This space, with all new Apple computers, printers and software, was created primarily for the use of students in the following art programs and classes: digital photography, graphic design, animation, website design, video production and software.
RJ Merrill, chair of the Art Department, explains, “The computers are available for all students to use but those in the courses listed above have priority. This space enables students to have open lab time outside of the classroom to work on the assignments and projects. The Art Department plans to have dedicated support people in the space whenever HT1 is open. Art Department teachers also use the space for instruction.”
