Artists Open STEAM Center

An industrial artist Marty Wesolowski and adjunct faculty Ellen Gergely, both at GCC, along with others from the Maricopa County Community College District have created the Mosaic Arts Center, 12 E. Western Ave., Avondale. The public is invited to opening night beginning at 5 p.m., Oct. 27 with the dedication ceremony 7 p.m.

At the heart of the Mosaic Arts Center is the principle of using art to teach STEM, (with the addition of Art known as STEAM) primarily to grades 6 through 12. Also unique to Mosaic is a job-minded approach of team-based learning and development of presentation skills. The Mosaic Arts Center provides a one-of-a-kind studio environment with art gallery, a full stage and a computer center. It will use hands-on learning to foster critical thinking, problem solving and, most of all, the use of art to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

For more information, contact Ellen Gergely at ellen@mosaicartscenter.org or Marty Wesolowski marty@mosaicartscenter.org.
