GCC Dedicates Veteran Services CenterChief Master Sergeant Rory L. Wicks of the 56th Fighter Wing, Luke Air Force Base, was the keynote speaker at the dedication of Glendale Community College’s Veteran Services Center. The ceremony began at 11 a.m. with a student celebration following the dedication. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed pedal car races, career counseling and other activities by Navy and Army National Guard recruiters. Vice President of Student Affairs Alberto Sanchez was the master of ceremonies. VFW Post 6310 posted the colors followed by a welcome by Vice President of Academic Affairs Ronald D. Natale II and the national anthem by Angela L. Acuna. There were refreshments and tours of the new facility after the ribbon cutting. GCC would like to acknowledge the community members who helped make this celebration and the new center possible. TriWest Healthcare Alliance generously contributed funds for the dedication ceremony and the facility as well as computer equipment. The Arizona VFW donated computer systems so that friends and families of those serving oversees can gather for private, one-on-one Skype video/audio communications. The new Veteran Services Center is located just north of the Student Union on GCC’s main campus at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale. Contact www.gccaz.edu/va or 623- 845-3363.
